GENERAL FAQs

How do I book party & event DJs?
  • To make a booking, all you need to do is fill out the booking form below with all of your details and return it to us with a $50 deposit. 
  • If your party is quite a while away and you are still unsure of some of the details, please just fill in what you can and we can collect the rest of the information closer to your date.
  • DEPOSIT PAYMENT: You can also pay your deposit by sending us a cheque or money order made out to Feel Good Events, or by dropping into our office. You can also pay via Internet Banking, or over the phone with credit card.
  • FINAL PAYMENT: Balance of payment can be made prior to the event by the above methods, or cash balance on the night.
  • Your booking will only be confirmed when your booking form and deposit is returned so please send it to us ASAP to ensure you don’t miss out on your date.
  • If your function is cancelled, your deposit will be forfeited.

Please email a list of ‘must play’, ‘play if possible’ and ‘must not play’ songs to dance@feelgoodevents.com.au.

We only require a power point. All equipment will be provided by us.

We require at least 2.5m x 2.5m to comfortably do our job.

We do not insist that the DJ is provided a meal, but some food and non-alcoholic beverages would be much appreciated as the DJ is there for longer than your guests.

All bookings and planning are done through our office with our experience team prior to your party. Once we have allocated a suitable DJ for your event, we can then organise a time at our office for you to meet with the DJ. Alternatively, we can arrange for the DJ to call you to confirm your details and preferences.

Lighting is so important if you want to create an atmosphere that is comfortable for your guests. It can also help you set the right mood for the type of party you want. Choosing to have some mood lighting for the beginning of the event and then some party lights to help encourage dancing later in the night will definitely make your party more successful. 

If you really want to try and create the party of the year, we suggest having a cocktail-style. This will allow a lot more time for dancing as dinner and formalities won’t take up the majority of the night. Most importantly, your guests will be much more likely to dance if they have not just eaten a 3-course meal!

How much does a DJ cost in Melbourne?

Our DJs typically range from $750–$2,500 depending on your event length, location, and inclusions. We offer clear, upfront pricing with no hidden extras.

Most parties and corporate events book DJs for 4–5 hours, but we can customise the length to suit your event. Extra time can be arranged if the party is still going strong.

We can usually extend on the night for an agreed hourly rate, provided the venue allows it. It’s best to discuss this beforehand so we can plan for flexibility.

LOGISTICS & SETUP

How early will the DJ arrive to set up?

Our DJs typically arrive 60–90 minutes before the music start time to set up sound, lighting, and run a quick check. For larger events with more production, we may arrive earlier.

In most cases, no site visit is required. We’ve worked in hundreds of Melbourne venues and can advise on setup from experience. If your event has unusual access or complex requirements, we can arrange a visit.

We’re experienced in working with venues that have sound limiters or strict finish times. Our DJs adapt volume and music style to keep the energy up while respecting venue rules. If your venue does have strict volume levels, please let us know when you enquire as sound volume plays a big part in the overall guest experience.

Yes, we regularly service regional Victoria. Travel fees may apply depending on distance and access.

Yes, we carry full Public Liability Insurance and all our equipment is test and tagged, which many Melbourne function venues require.

Can we choose our music?

Absolutely. You can give us must play and do not play lists, and we’ll shape the night around your taste. The more flexibility you have around the music that is played the better the party will go.

You don’t need to plan the whole night, that’s what our DJs are trained for. We recommend giving us 10–20 of your favourite songs across different styles plus any “must-play” tracks. From there, our DJs read the crowd and use their expertise to build the energy.

You can, but if you want to control the entire playlist, it may be easier to create a Spotify list and hire speakers. Hiring a DJ means you get the benefit of live crowd reading and party energy management, which is what keeps the dance floor happy.
