Episode 11: A Week at Feel Good Events

Melbourne Corporate Event Styling, Rooftop Celebrations and Large-Scale Setups

The Feel Good Events team is back with Episode 11 of our Week in the Life series, and this one gives a solid look at what a typical high-volume week can look like behind the scenes.

Three large corporate event setups. Three completely different briefs. Three very different environments across Melbourne.

From a themed gala at a major hotel, to a rooftop celebration, through to a large-scale valedictory at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, this week shows how varied event styling in Melbourne can be when you are working across different clients and spaces.

Melbourne University GSA Annual Ball

Floral Disco Themed Gala at Pullman on the Park

The first job of the week was the Melbourne University GSA Annual Ball, held at Pullman on the Park.

This event was built around a floral disco theme, which meant combining two very different styling directions and making them work together in one space.

On one side, you have the energy of disco. Mirror balls, reflective surfaces, lighting, movement.

On the other, you have florals. Softness, texture, natural elements.

The styling brought those together through:

  • Themed centrepieces that combined florals with disco elements
  • Custom backdrops to anchor key areas of the room
  • Mirror ball trees that added height and movement across the space

This type of event works when both sides are balanced properly. Too much disco and it feels harsh. Too many florals and you lose the energy.

When it lands right, you get a space that feels fun, layered, and visually strong from the moment guests walk in.

AV Jennings Rooftop Event

Chic Rooftop Styling in Williamstown

The second job shifted completely in tone.

A rooftop celebration for residents of AV Jennings’ Merchant building in Williamstown.

Smaller scale. More relaxed. But still needed to feel considered.

This setup focused on:

  • Fresh floral styling across key areas
  • Clean, modern furniture selections
  • A layout that made the most of the rooftop space

Rooftop events come with their own challenges.

Wind. Space limitations. Access. Timing.

So the styling has to be practical as well as visual.

In this case, it was about creating a space that felt easy to move through, comfortable to spend time in, and still polished enough for a premium residential event.

Padua College Valedictory

Large-Scale Event Styling at MCEC

The final job of the week was one of the biggest.

Padua College’s Valedictory at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Large guest numbers. Large room. Which means the styling needs scale to match.

This setup included:

  • Over 100 disco and greenery centrepieces across guest tables
  • Consistent styling repeated at scale to fill the room properly
  • A sequin backdrop photo area designed as a key feature

With events at this size, the focus shifts slightly.

It is less about individual details and more about overall impact.

If the centrepieces are too small, the room feels empty.
If the styling is inconsistent, it feels disconnected.

So everything needs to be repeated properly across the space to create that full-room effect.

What This Week Shows About Event Styling

Three events. Three completely different outcomes.

But the same core thinking behind all of them.

It is not just about choosing decor.

It is about:

  • how the space is used
  • where the focal points sit
  • how guests move through the room
  • what actually gets noticed on the night

That is what separates a styled event from one that actually works.

Behind the Scenes of a Week Like This

Weeks like this come down to coordination.

Multiple bump-ins. Tight schedules. Different teams working across different venues.

And a lot happening behind the scenes that never gets shown.

From loading trucks, to installing centrepieces, to adjusting layouts on the fly, it all builds into the final result.

That is what this series is about.

Showing what really goes into corporate event styling and setup in Melbourne, not just the finished photos.

Planning a Corporate Event or Celebration in Melbourne?

If you are planning a corporate function, gala, or private event, this is usually the stage where you are working out what you actually need.

Not just what looks good, but what will work in your space, with your numbers, and with your goals for the event.

At Feel Good Events, we focus on both sides.

The styling.
And how the event actually runs once guests arrive.

Whether you need:

  • Corporate event styling Melbourne
  • Gala dinner design and setup
  • Rooftop event styling
  • Large-scale event planning and execution

Our team can help you bring it together properly.
